party in a box

In an effort to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Foundation, Savannah is a host city for the Regatta every year. A very close relative of mine passed away 3 1/2 years ago from a 10 year battle of leukemia so this cause hits home a little harder than others. She was my cousin, Karen Hamilton, and she was 19 years old when she lost her battle. I've never seen anyone so brave in my life and I will always remember her for her strength and friendship. I wanted to donate something that could really bring in the $$$ for the auction this year so I worked with Sarah Buck Photography and Two Smart Cookies to create "Party in a Box". The package includes 50 custom invitations, 50 custom thank you notes, 50 custom favor tags, 50 custom cookies, 2 hours of even photography, and a coffee table book to commemorate the event. ( $650 value ) Big thanks to everyone who participated and I'm excited to see how much money the entire event raises tonight. Since Savannah has been one of the host cities, we have raised over $2 million dollars towards cancer research. Thank you Savannah!

baby shower invitation : Lilly Pulitzer Style!

A friend wanted to design a baby shower invitation with a Lilly Pulitzer theme! Well, she came to the right place since I'm such a huge Lilly fan! The mom-to-be is naming the daughter, Lillie, so the theme was definitely appropriate! I drew the mini Lilly shift dresses and created my own pattern for the middle dress. What little girl's dress would be complete without a monogram, too!
We are also working on custom candy labels for a candy station and custom signage for the event! Stay tuned for more details!

this week's favorites : 9.11.2009

Of course, I got hooked on Style's new show Giuliana and Bill!
Not only did they have my favorite celeb wedding in Capri, but this show is too cute!

This makes me want to throw a dinner party just to use these!
As usual, props to Martha!

One of my favorite blogs, The Sartorialist has finally released his new book!
It's a beautiful pictorial of street fashion - great inspiration! He was selected as Time Magazine's Top 100 Design Influences.

I haven't enjoyed my favorite drink in a while so I think I might tonight!
for those of you who like champagne but think it's a little too strong or potent, definitely pick up a bottle of Prosecco, an Italian sparkling wine. It's ultra light and super yummy!
Combine with a little limoncello for a citrus treat!

this week's favorites : 9.4.09

Just a few of my new favorite things:

Pandora Radio - it's free and fabulous!
Type in your favorite artist, genre or song and it generates a radio station geared towards your liking! My favorites: Frank Sinatra, Twilight (yes, I said it!), Bob Marley, Andrea Bocelli

A new dress from Urban Outfitters, I'm wearing it today paired with a bright yellow vintage necklace that my friend from Charleston gave me!

A new jumper from Urban Outfitters - I wasn't sure, but then put it on and it's super comfy but yet chic and avante-garde!
Lemon Infused Oil that I picked up at my friend, Scotti's, Tastefully Simple Party...
Toss in pasta and great cooking with chicken or fish!
I LOVEEEEEE this candle from Seda France. It fills the entire house with this great refreshing scene! Locals can pick one up at Glow Medspa and Beauty Boutique!

Bachelorette Party Invitations : Charleston Style!

A long-time customer, A Belle and her Beau approached me about doing a bachelorette party invitation with a palmetto/charleston theme! She also wanted a very bright/pretty feel! Here's how it turned out!

Bridesmaids Luncheon Invitation : Botanical Garden Style!

A friend approached me about an invitation for her niece. Her and her mom are hosting the bridesmaid luncheon at the Botanical Gardens in Birmingham so this is what I came up with! I wanted it to be garden themed, but very chic and modern. This invitation also include my custom return address printing on the envelopes.

Local Artist Spotlight : Trellis Payne

In Savannah, we have a local artist who paints the most fabulous creations!!! Being a non traditionalist myself - I can truly appreciate her whimsical and quirky approach to her subject matters! Check out her website at www.trellispayne.com to browse her portfolio - you can also contact her if you wish to purchase one of her paintings! I can't wait to move and redecorate so I can invest in one of her pieces!

Here's Trellis pictured here at Nadeau Savannah { a favorite furniture store! }
where her paintings are for sale!

Shown here: Her trio of Wild Fruit!

I especially love this one because as a child people mistake my maiden name, Thigpen, for Pigpen, we later embraced it as a family so this would be a good tribute!

I just love her use of color! Peacock Panache
